Specialty - Reliability and Industrial Quality (FQI)
Engineers who graduate from FQI become specialists in process engineering, QA, operational safety, … which are common in industrial manufacturing and service sectors.
Programme
The FQI programme covers inter alia the following key-points:
- Scientific and technical aspects: statistics in process engineering, Taguchi methodology, robust engineering, system safety, structural and material failure, non-destructive testing, re-engineering techniques, trade standards and benchmarks
- Management and interpersonal aspects: QA, meeting management, communication, project management, product or service certification, benchmarking, Quality Function Deployment (QFD).
Industrial partners
Renault, Valéo, Inergy, Aérospatiale, CNES, AIRBUS, Aerolia, COLGATE PALMOLIVE, SAFRAN, EADS, Delphi, SAINT GOBAIN SEKURIT FRANCE, RATP, Allevard, L'Oréal, Cartier, EDF, Snecma, Oxylane, Schlumberger,...
International
Students who take the FQI elective specialty can be accepted for various overseas placements and projects. Details of host institutions are set out under the INTERNATIONAL heading.
Professional skills and openings
A FQI graduate will be able to add on professional skills in quality assessment (QA) and better interpersonal relations. QA is a transverse condition and opening are to be found mainly in industrial activities but also, increasingly, from agro-food to banking and other service sectors (banks, insurance, transportation, health ...).
Career prospects
The usual start is as a QA (quality assurance) engineer moving up rapidly to QA Manager or Director, or Site Manager. Customer satisfaction is of prime importance.

Further Education
UTC also proposes FQI students two Master's degrees "Complex System Engineering" and "Health Care Engineering" with a research orientation that can be started during (or after) the final engineering diploma year.
› The above courses and other, shorter modules whether leading to a diploma award or not, can be obtained in the UTC Continuous Education scheme or via the Professional experience validation scheme (VAE).
